Romantic Dinner at Art Cafe

A journey to a new place will never be complete complete without venturing into culinary culture. So on our trip to El Nido, we have to try something different. Looking around the place there were lots of sea foods, name it and they have it here. Walking on one of the alley we found this restaurant Art Cafe and me being a pasta and pizza lover, I got excited when I found out that they have it here. Sometimes being surrounded with lots of sea foods makes you wanna eat something different.

We decided to try their Art Cafe Pizza and their Carbonara. Servings are quite huge, an order is already good for 2 with a romantic candle light dinner ambiance and a view of the Bacuit Bay.

We spent around Php600 for a large pizza and carbonara, reasonable enough for a sumptuous dinner.

Snake Island

One of the reason I chose tour B is because of the long sand bar that looks like a snake from afar, that's why its called Snake Island. It was cloudy and raining when we get to the island, but it didn't stop me from crossing the sand bar going to the other side where there are lots of mangrove trees.

Picturesque Simizu Island

Simizu Island live a great number of vibrant corals and a lot of fishes making it a very good spot for snorkeling. You will see different kinds of fishes and corals and the view was just breath taking. We spent like 2 hours in the island as we had our lunch here. This place is just mesmerizing.

Ugong Rock Adventures

On our way back to Puerto Prinsesa, we passed by Ugong Rock and our tour guide asked us if we want to check this out. At first, we don't know what's in store for us, and so our tour guide showed us a video clip on what to expect in the place and everyone in the van agreed to go.

I have never done anything like this and so I was excited and didn't hesitate to try. Our tour guide informed us that the word “ugong” stands for the reverberating sound produced inside of Ugong Rock when hit or pounded with the knuckles or the hand. It was like a metal sound produced by a stone.

We had a chance to do zip line going down but we decided not to as I have already tried a lot of zip lines and I kindly fed up with the experience.

Rates of Ugong Rock Adventure:

Ugong Rock Caving – 200 Pesos/person
Zipline (Sitting Position) – 250 Pesos/person (optional)
Zipline (Superman Position) – 350 Pesos/person (optional)

Corong-Corong Beach

We stayed in Corong-Corong beach for our 2 days in El Nido. This was a good choice though as we planned to go island hopping for the 2 days we are here. Island hopping starts here so it was just a walking distance for us, we saved time and money for travelling than staying in the town proper.  And knowing me, I always love to be beside the sea, it just gives me a relaxing ambiance.

a nice view of the sunset.

How we get to Corong-Corong Beach

From the terminal of El Nido, Palawan we walked towards the left side to Corong-Corong Beach. It was just 5 minutes from the El Nido terminal to the place we stayed at Mina Grande.

Tip: Tricycles that are in line at the terminal charge 50 pesos per tricycle. If you want to go cheap, walk a little distance and wait for tricycles passing by, you’ll only be paying 10 Pesos per person.

Stung by Jelly fish... Arghhh..

Coming from the church of Manaoag, when we asked for the nearest beach we can go to, we were brought to San Fabian. It was a wide stretch of beach and we get there for less than 30 minutes from Manaoag.

San Fabian beach is a good destination for those who have a limited budget. We rented a cottage for only 800 pesos for a group of 18. The powdery gray sand of this beach also played a big part on our history. During World War II, the Japanese Imperial Expeditionary Forces under General Homma landed on this beach.

There are also boats you can rent that can tour you around for only 10 to 20 pesos and even bring you to bakawan island,

So while we were enjoying swimming, I felt a throbbing pain at the back of my legs and at first I didn't mind it until I realized it was really that painful. So I rushed back to the cottage and never get back to the water. It was my first time to be stung by a jelly fish, they asked me to pour vinegar on it and after a few hours, thank God I'm fine.

Manaoag on a Palm Sunday

My mom told me they where going to Manaoag church for Palm Sunday and even I have work on Saturday night, knowing me, I said I would like to join. The crossed shaped church was jammed packed with lots of devotes aside from the fact that it was Palm Sunday. It was hard to even get inside the church, and being my first time there, me and my sister even had a hard time finding where we parked the car. Luckily, we were able to take note of the gate number of thew nearest entrance to where we parked.
