A Weekend of Everything that Flies

It was February 14, Valentines day, and we decided not to have the typical Valentine date everyone is used to, the flowers and the romantic dinner. We wanted something different this time. And so Me and my boyfriend together with a friend decided to spend it witnessing the hot air balloons fly high in the sky.

We arrived on Clark Freeport Zone around 4 in the morning and to our surprise there are already tons of people lined up in the entrance, guess we're not just the one celebrating valentines here. But its a good thing that we arrived on time, we were able to get at least a decent spot on the site. As when the entrance gate opened, people rushed into the viewing site where the hot air balloons will fly. Some brought their tents but we decided to just bring news paper so it wont be a hassle for us to bring as we only took bus going to Clark, at least we have something to sit on while waiting.

waiting while while watching them prepare the hot air balloons
After sunrise, they began to fly one by one and the view was just amazing.

There were lots of booth around the place for foods, souvenirs and other stuff. One booth catch my attention as there were 2 mute offering face paint and got my face painted.

They also have display of some air force crafts.

How we get there:

- Ride a bus bound to Dagupan, we took Solid North as Victory Liner was packed with people and the next bus going to Dagupan will depart after an hour. It took us 1 hour to get to Dau. Bus fare Php 139
- From Dau we took a jeep bound to main gate. Fare Php 7
- From the main gate we took another jeepney going to Clark Freeport Zone where the hot air balloon festival was held. Php 10

Around lunch time, we decided to go on a side trip to sandbox. We went back to SM clark to look for a jeepney going to Porac, however after waiting for 15 minutes we didnt see any, so we decided to ask one of the drivers how can we get to Porac. While talking to the jeepney driver, we found a couple also going to Sandbox and we just rented the whole jeepney to bring us there.

Upon reaching Sandbox, there were already lots of people in line to the entrance. They are also controlling the number of tickets they will be selling for the attractions as there was already a lot of people on queue. Because of that we only tried the giant swing and didnt bother ourselves to buy tickets and fall in line to the other attractions as to the long queue that it would take us hours just for a 10 second ride.

To our frustration, we just head back to SM clark to eat as we are already tired specially for me going straight from a night shift, we decided to go home after.

Going back to Manila was hard as we did not bring a car. There was a long line for jeepney going to the bus terminal and it took a long time for the jeepneys to arrive as it was traffic in the whole area. I think it`s still better to bring car going here.
